SQUAT Acceptable Use Policy
Guidelines and requirements for authorized testing, AI persona simulations, and responsible platform use.
Pre-release. This policy will be updated prior to the official SQUAT launch.
1. Purpose
SQUAT supports authorized product testing, simulated persona work, moderated panels, research planning, and related evaluation. Customers must use it lawfully, protect the people and systems affected by their work, and describe AI-generated output honestly.
2. Authorized targets and access
Customers may direct SQUAT or connected agents to access only products, websites, accounts, systems, data, and artifacts they own or are authorized to test. Customers must follow target terms, security rules, rate limits, and applicable law.
Customers must not:
- access an account, system, or data without permission;
- bypass authentication, authorization, technical restrictions, or safety controls;
- probe, exploit, disrupt, overload, damage, or introduce malicious code;
- collect or expose credentials, tokens, cookies, keys, or other secrets in prompts, transcripts, reports, or SQUAT records;
- allow an agent to enter credentials unless the approved local or operator-controlled flow protects them from model and chat capture; or
- use SQUAT for spam, phishing, malware, fraud, or evasion.
3. Simulation and persona provenance
All model-produced persona responses and behaviors are AI-generated simulations. Customers must not:
- represent output as testimony, research participation, a quotation, or an action by a human person;
- claim that a synthetic panel is empirical human research or market validation;
- create or use fabricated consent, permission, provenance, source basis, or identity evidence;
- conceal a known source basis when the product requires it to be recorded;
- claim that first-person human or documentary source material makes generated output authentic human speech; or
- use a simulated persona to contact, authenticate as, or enter into a transaction as a represented person.
Source basis may be first-person human, documentary, synthetic, combined, or unclassified. These labels describe inputs, not the identity or authority of the output.
4. Rights in supplied material
Customers must have appropriate rights, permissions, notices, consents, and lawful bases for all supplied material, including interviews, writing samples, recordings, transcripts, observations, analytics, images, public material, confidential information, personal data, and content brought from registered grounding sources.
Customers must not use SQUAT to:
- infringe copyright, trademark, publicity, privacy, confidentiality, database, contractual, or other rights;
- perform unlawful surveillance, stalking, harassment, or profiling;
- create deceptive impersonations or misleading endorsements;
- infer or exploit highly sensitive traits in violation of law;
- submit unlawfully obtained information; or
- expose personal or confidential information beyond the authorized purpose.
5. High-impact and professional uses
Customers must not use SQUAT output as the sole or determinative basis for a decision about a person's:
- employment or worker management;
- education or admissions;
- housing;
- credit, lending, or financial eligibility;
- insurance;
- healthcare or medical treatment;
- legal rights or access to legal services;
- access to essential public or private services; or
- another similarly significant opportunity.
SQUAT output is not legal, medical, financial, employment, accessibility-certification, or other professional advice. Customers must obtain qualified human review and any required professional assessment.
6. Safety, discrimination, and harmful conduct
Customers must not use SQUAT to facilitate unlawful discrimination, violence, abuse, exploitation, harassment, self-harm, trafficking, or other material harm. Customers must account for the risk that simulations can reproduce biases and stereotypes and must not treat simulated demographic attributes as evidence about a protected group.
Customers must not use outputs to make unsupported claims about a population, person, competitor, product, or market.
7. Platform and methodology protection
Customers must not:
- extract, disclose, publish, redistribute, or resell nonpublic SQUAT prompts, methods, method guides, frameworks, templates, or served content;
- bypass plan, entitlement, seat, device, rate, or access controls;
- use SQUAT Materials to build a competing methodology or content service; or
- interfere with audit, provenance, security, retention, or deletion controls.
Ordinary observations, findings, reports, and Customer Content remain governed by the Terms and EULA.
8. Connected providers
Customers must comply with the terms and policies of connected model, browser, identity, payment, grounding-source, and integration providers. Customers are responsible for provider settings, costs, permissions, and data handling they select.
A provider's ability to produce content does not make that content
